Dermatologists from around the world are taking a break from treating their patients to head to San Diego now through Tuesday for the American Academy of Dermatology's Annual Meeting. Sure, derms will get a chance to have some fun in The Plymouth of the West, but the AAD event has become a key stop on skin care marketers trade show circuit. Procter & Gamble, Beiersdorf, L’Oréal and Unilever, basically every major brand in the category, has a presence and takes a stand at the event, which attracts thousands of doctors who are interested in not just the latest pharmaceuticals and ablative techniques, but to hear what’s new from formulators of skin, hair and even laundry care products, too.

Plus there are dozens of poster presentations on a wide range of topics, including acne, dermatitis, hair and nail disorders, melanoma, pigmented lesions, non-melanoma skin cancers, psoriasis and many other disorders that are of interest to the cosmtics industry.

 
Of course, in any scientific society, science is the main draw for many attendees. Dermatologists will have a chance to choose from an array of scientific sessions, plus get entertained by suppliers when the tradeshow closes—and still make it back to their practices by Wednesday!
